Paper Management

Create, organize, and assign papers to team members.

What are Papers?

Papers represent research subjects, study participants, or any entity that needs to complete surveys. Each paper can be assigned to multiple coders and supervisors.

Creating Papers

Create papers individually, in batches, or by duplicating existing ones:

Single Paper: Click "Create Paper" and fill in Paper ID, Name, Collection, and Description

Batch Upload: Upload CSV or Excel with columns for Paper ID, Name, Collection, and assignments

Duplicate: Click copy icon to duplicate a paper (system auto-increments Paper ID)

Team Assignment

Assign team members to papers for data collection and review:

Coders: Assign up to 2 coders per paper to complete surveys and submit responses

Supervisors: Assign up to 2 supervisors per paper to review and approve responses

Self-Assignment: Users can self-assign to papers with available seats

Unassign: Users can unassign themselves, admins can reassign any user

Survey Assignment

Control which surveys are available for each paper:

Individual Surveys: Add surveys from the paper detail page

Survey Groups: Assign entire survey groups for bulk assignment

Sequence Numbers: Surveys are ordered by sequence to guide completion order

Filtering and Search

Find and organize papers using multiple filter options:

Search: Find papers by Paper ID or Name

Collection: Group papers by collection to focus on specific cohorts

User: View papers assigned to specific coders or supervisors

Status: Filter by response status (with/without responses, pending, approved)

Survey Stage: Focus on papers at specific survey stages

Paper Details

Each paper has three tabs for managing different aspects:

Surveys: View and manage surveys assigned to the paper

Reviews: See all responses submitted with review status

Discussion: Collaborate with team members using comments and @mentions

Best Practices

Consistent IDs: Establish a naming convention for Paper IDs for easy tracking

Use Collections: Group related papers into collections for easier management

Assign Early: Assign team members before publishing surveys for smooth workflow

Use Discussions: Leverage paper discussions for team communication
